Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: “It is vital that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

“These types of items being sold, usually online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

“You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More importantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health.”
