The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald’s.
